While other bidders are said to be interested in the painting, Wynn is considered the front runner due to his long history of supporting the arts. In 2006, he donated over $100 million to create the Wynn Las Vegas Art Museum.

"I am thrilled that we will have the opportunity to own this extraordinary masterpiece," Wynn said in a statement. "The experience of looking at this picture is indescribable."

Chris paddle, deputy chairman of Christie's Americas, said "Salvator Mundi" is "the holy grail of all paintings." So far, it has generated more than three times the amount achieved by any work ever sold at auction.
